Newbie Guide for SMT: Basic Class Build
Just started the game and not sure what to do? The below should help. The core expertise for each class are the ones that you can't go wrong with. (Or easy enough to fix) Then Option are the sub classes you can play around with.
Note: The below at the moment are my opinion, hence feel free to leave your own comments. In order to stay away from flaming and bashing, I won't be touching hybrids classes since the patch to make them good doesn't exist yet and they are ridiculously hard to be good with either way.
PS: Once tarots/soul stone fusions are included, Chaos goes hand in hands with Melee, Law goes hand in hands with Gunner, and Mage goes hand in hand with neutral. Except for Melee, most of it is the ease of acquiring the necessary tarots specific to your class. (Fomorian for Melee/Zhen for Gunner/Elf for Mage)
Class: Core Melee
Core Expertise:
Attack Class 2
Counter Class 1 (Bind Counter)
Rush Class 1 (Heaven's Gate is 190% Damage Singular, Asura Charge is 150% Line AOE)
Spin Class 1 (Tail of the Dragon)

Option - Enhancement
Mainly for the no knock back effect at class 2.5. -50% damage taken and +50% damage is just icing on the cake. Just call it nightmare mode.
Support Class 4 (Tetraja for negating 1 death/expel damage.)

Option - JP's Sharp Shoot
Don't use this option unless you know what you are doing. Class 1.5 is all you need in Suginami gold for 30% extra damage.

Class: Core Mage
Core Expertise:
Destruction Magic Class 5 (Concentrate on Fire and Ice Magic, but get Zionga instead of Bufula)
Bless Class 1
Magic Control Class 1
Option - Enhancement:
Class 2 Battery and Ironclad are the two best buffs in game as of the moment. +50% damage and -50% damage taken respectively. Definitely worth getting.
Curative Magic Class 2
Support Magic Class 3 (Estoma is for canceling enemy's current action, Tetraja negate 1 death/expel damage)
Option - Curse of the Wretched
Erosion Hex is the best debuff in game. Can possibly stone, paralysis, sleep, and mute all mobs in area. Anything not stopped cold though, aggros on you. Also does damage based on your support stats, but not a lot of damage.
Curse Magic Class 2
Option - Demolition Dash
A lot of raw damage for each demolition dash. Just dangerous because its close range only and rush action.
Rush Class 1
Class: Core Gunner
Note: I have no real idea for this. I am horrible with a gun. I would appreciate if someone puts in their own build for this one. For now though

Rapid Class 1 (Eraser if you only want class 1 rapid, 7 Samurai if you want to max rapid)

Option - Magic Bullet
Debuff Bullets that does a lot of damage. Class 2 gives the forgetful bullet hole. Which produces Amnesia effect and is very useful. Also contain elemental bullets to exploit elemental weaknesses.

Increase 30% damage done to the demon genus and (which can contain several family) increase damage done to you by that specific demon genus. Class 2.5 is about all you need for boosted damage for beast, fairy, and birds.
Demonology Class 2

Core Expertise:
Occultism Class 1 (Note: It has been suggested that you should always max/reach your goal for occultism first before moving to demonology)
Demonology Class 1
Option - Enhancement
Due to high intelligence, synthesis characters are quite suited to Enhancement due to large mp banks. This is the best way for a synthesis character to fight/level up
Support Class 3 (Tetraja for negating 1 death/expel damage.)
